Our highly experienced nurses work at the direction of the Doctors and will assist in providing comprehensive coordinated healthcare services.

Doctors

Dr Rakesh Kaushal

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Rakesh Kaushal is the practice principle of Northtown Medical Centre. He graduated in 1982 from the prestigious AIIMS College in New Delhi, India. Dr Rakesh has been a medical doctor as part of the Indian Sports team in Asian Games and Olympics.

 

Dr Rakesh worked in Tully with his wife (Dr Kiran Kaushal) for 5 years before he moved to Townsville. He has now been in Townsville for over 10 years. He has special interest in General Medicine, Sports Medicine, Mental Health, Travel Medicine, Employment Medicals, Preventative Medicine, Minor Skin Procedure, Dermatology, Aged Care and Chronic Illness. 

 

Dr Rakesh enjoys teaching and training medical students and GP Registrars. He is also an examiner for Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) Exams.

 

Dr Rakesh is fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi.

 

Dr Kiran Kaushal

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Kiran Kaushal graduated in 1983 and worked in India specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr Kiran moved to Australia in 2001 with her family. She spent the first 5 years working as a General Practitioner in Tully, and then moved to Townsville in 2006 as her children were accepted into the Medical School at James Cook University.

 

Dr Kiran has now been working as a GP in Townsville for over 10 years and her special interests are Women's Health, Children's Health, Antenatal Care, Indigenous Health, Travel Medicine, Preventative Medicine and Chronic Illness. She is one of the few GPs in Townsville that does Mirena insertion/removal in a Bulk Billing Medical Centre.

 

Dr Kiran is actively involved in teaching and training medical students and GP Registrars.

 

Dr Kiran is fluent in English and Hindi.

** Dr Kiran primarily works at Riverway Medical Centre however she does occasionally do a few days at Northtown Medical Centre.

 

Dr Ratna Shukla

MBBS, MFCGP, FRACGP

Dr Ratna Shukla has been practising as a GP in Townsville for over 10 year.

 

Dr Shukla is fluent in English and Hindi.

 

Dr Navjot Arora

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Navjot (Nav) Arora graduated in 2011 in India. He moved to Australia, and started working at Northtown Medical Centre in 2015. The variety of medicine that general practice offers and the pleasure of getting to know and treat families across their lifecycle provides ongoing interest. He has special interest in Men's Health, Paediatrics, Aged Care, Sexual Health, Mental Health, Emergency Medicine, Chronic Illness and Skin Diseases including Minor Skin Surgeries.

 

Dr Nav is known to have an amiable nature with good sense of humor. Outside of work, he has interest in sports (especially cricket), dancing and politics. 

 

Dr Nav is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

 

Dr Keshia Nagra

MBBS

 

Dr Keshia Nagra has worked in Wollongong, Palm Island and Townsville. She has undertaken extended skills in sexual health. Her special interests are: Sexual health (including hepatitis B and HIV), Transgender medicine, Indigenous Health and Refugee Health.

 

Dr Keshia is fluent in English and Punjabi.

 

Dr Behnaz Pourasghar Tolombechi

Dr Behnaz is fluent in English, Azerbaijani, Persian and Turkish
